Man shot multiple times in Niles
NILES TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office reports an individual was shot numerous times in the 900 block of Woods Edge Dr. in Niles Township Sunday morning.
On July 28, around 12:25 a.m., Michigan State Police and road patrol personnel from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene on a report of several gunshots and a possibly injured party.
As MSP troopers and BCSO deputies arrived, they located a 32-year-old victim shot multiple times in his lower legs and buttocks.
The 32-year old Niles man was taken by SMCAS Ambulance Service to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana, were he required surgery for shooting-related injuries.
Officials say the unidentified man is in stable condition and his injuries don’t appear to be life-threatening at this time.
Berrien County Sheriff’s Office Detectives and crime scene technicians are assisting in the investigation and processing evidence at the crime scene.
A preliminary investigation reveals the victim had been standing outside of a vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment complex, when he was approached and shot at by unknown person(s) in an unknown vehicle.
