Man gets caught on camera stealing phones from Wings Etc.
OSCEOLA, Ind. --- Wings Etc. is looking for a man who targeted two Michiana locations in an attempt to steal employee cell phones.
“He was just kind of lingering around all suspicious like and then once like 15 minutes had passed after he left then I realized my phone was gone," said Kierstyn Quimby, Phone was Stolen.
Quimby has been working at Wings Etc. in Osceola hoping to make a little extra cash, but on New Years Eve she lost more than she gained — after a customer stole her phone right from the hostess counter.
“The first thing I did was call my mom to see if she could check my location to make sure I didn’t just misplace it and once we realized that my location was at the Walmart in Elkhart that’s when I told my manager and we had looked through the camera footage," said Quimby.
The man who can be seen swiping Quimby’s phone in this surveillance video pretended his sisters phone was left behind one week ago. Hoping to do a good deed — Quimby and several of her coworkers attempted a search effort and that’s when he swiped her phone — but he didn’t stop there.
“The GM from the Southside location on Ireland called our GM and told her that the same guy had come in not even 2 hours later in the same outfit and tried to pull the same thing," said Quimby.
Quimby believes the man traded in her phone at a phone-for-cash drop box at the Walmart in Mishawaka.
Still, she says she won’t let this incident stop her from trying to help others in need.
“I’m still just as like okay to do my job and I just try to get things done I’m just a little more cautious of my surroundings," said Quimby.
