Man accused of touching himself inappropriately inside South Bend church

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A South Bend man is accused of touching himself inappropriately inside a church.

South Bend police say Antone Mayfield, 23, committed the act inside a church on the 300 block of Main Street  on July 9th, during a service. Police say children were present.

Investigators say Mayfield returned to the church Wednesday morning, and employees called police.

Officers arrested Mayfield at a downtown fast food restaurant, after Mayfield was identified by witnesses from the church.

Investigators say Mayfield was linked to a similar crime in a downtown parking garage on May 12th.

Mayfield is charged with vicarious sexual gratification, which is a level 5 felony in Indiana.
