Man accused of attempting to rob Taco Bell

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A man was arrested after attempting to rob a Taco Bell after being asked to leave the restaurant, according to court records.

South Bend Police responded to the Taco Bell in the 3200 block of Lincoln Way on Monday around 3:45 p.m. for reports of a robbery.

An employee of Taco Bell told police he asked Gerry Lee Bishop to leave the restaurant. After being asked to leave, Bishop told the employee to take money out of the register and put it in a bag, according to the probable cause affidavit.

A witness told police he heard Bishop demand money and reach towards the front of his waistband, reports said.

A second employee overheard Bishop say he was going to get someone with his pistol, report said.

Bishop has been charged with attempted robbery and intimidation.
