SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- 

On Tuesday morning, fire crews responded to what's being called a 'small' fire at the post office on Edison Road in South Bend.

A call came in around 4:30 Tuesday morning. ABC57 was told on scene there were no reported injuries or fatalities and an employee noticed the fire before calling the fire department.

Employees on scene told us the mail office will be closed, but people can still drop off mail outside that mail office and P.O.  boxes will be open. They are awaiting postal inspectors to see if the whole building has to be closed.

As of 7 am, fire crews were not on the scene anymore.
