INDIANA,-Lyme disease is on the rise across the state of Indiana.
Health officials say the number of confirmed cases soared 82 percent over the past five years.
Researchers are scrambling to figure out if the increase is because of an upswing in the number of cases actually being reported or if there are more infected ticks spreading the disease.
If left untreated, Lyme disease can cause painful joint swelling and serious neurological disorders.
