Local small animal clinic closes its doors for final time

New Prairie Small Animal Clinic

ROLLING PRAIRIE, Ind. -- The New Prairie Small Animal Clinic on US20 has helped its final furry friend as the veterinarian's office closed its doors for good on Monday, July 1.

Staff members say the clinic has seen its costs rise substantially over the last two years and that it is in the company's best interest to put its resources into its main facility instead of splitting between two locations.

That main location is the Woodland Veterinary Center at 1943 S Woodland Avenue in Michigan City, which will continue to operate

Full statement:

Dear Faithful Pet Parents,

With heavy hearts, we have decided to close New Prairie Small Animal Clinic in Rolling Prairie on July 1, 2025. Over the last 2 years, we have seen our costs rise significantly. Due to this, we have found that maintaining two individual facilities has become cost prohibitive. After careful and thoughtful consideration, it has become necessary to reduce our overhead by maintaining a single office.

The Woodland Veterinary Center in Michigan City will still be open, and Dr. Baldwin will still be taking care of your furry family members. As both clinics currently share access to medical records, your pet's medical files are already available at Woodland Veterinary Center.

We appreciate your understanding in this decision. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

Sincerely,
Dr. Scott and Melissa Baldwin,
The Staffs of New Prairie Small Animal Clinic and Woodland Veterinary Center
