Local locations for National Drug Take Back Day
The Drug Enforcement Agency will host a National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 28.
The event is particularly aimed at stemming the opioid crisis. According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 6.4 million Americans abused controlled prescription drugs in 2015. The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.
There will be several locations in Michiana where residents can drop off unused or unwanted drugs to stop them from falling into the wrong hands.
