List of Memorial Day parades and ceremonies

Many communities in Michiana are holding parades and ceremonies in honor of Memorial Day. Here's a list of the events happening over the holiday weekend.

Berrien Springs, Michigan

The American Legion Post 85 will host a Memorial Day parade and ceremony in Berrien Springs on Monday at 10 a.m. The parade will be followed by a ceremony at Rose Hill Cemetery. More info

Buchanan, Michigan

The Auxiliary American Legion-Buchanan Post 51 will host the Buchanan Memorial Day Parade at 10 a.m. on Monday. The parade begins in downtown Buchanan and will end in the Buchanan Cemetery. More info

Cassopolis, Michigan

The Cassopolis VFW Memorial Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday. More info

City Hall—10:30 a.m.

Edwardsburg, Michigan

The annual Memorial Day parade is scheduled for Monday, May 31st at 11:00 a.m. If you want to be in the parade just show up in the Middle School parking lot by 10:00 a.m. There will not be a festival following the parade.

Elkhart, Indiana

The annual Memorial Day Parade in Elkhart will take place on Monday, May 31 at 2 p.m. The parade will run along Main Street in downtown. 

Galien, Michigan

The Galien Memorial Day Parade will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 31. The parade will begin at the American Legion on Third Street and end at the Galien Township Cemetery on U.S. 12. A ceremony will follow at the cemetery. More info

Goshen, Indiana

The annual Goshen Memorial Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 31. The parade will begin at Jefferson Street in front of the Police Department and travel to Main Street, Pike Street (U.S. 33), and N. First Street before ending at Oakridge Cemetery with a ceremony. More info 

Knox, Indiana

VFW Post 748 in Knox will host the annual 24-Hour Memorial Day Vigil from 12 p.m. on Sunday May 30 to 12 p.m. on Monday, May 30. Volunteers will stand watch in front of the Post for 30-minute shifts in honor of Memorial Day. More info

La Porte, Indiana

The City of La Porte’s Memorial Day ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the Dennis F. Smith Amphitheater in Fox Park. The program will feature a performance by the La Porte City Band and will be moved into the La Porte Civic Auditorium in the event of poor weather.

Mendon, Michigan

The Village of Mendon’s Memorial Day Parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 31. More info

Michigan City, Indiana

Michigan City will not be hosting a parade or ceremony in the Greenwood Cemetery this year but will instead conduct commemorative 21-gun salutes at a number of memorials around town. Click here for a list of times and locations.

Middlebury, Indiana

The American Legion will be holding the Memorial Day parade starting at 10:00 AM.  They will also have the Dusk to Dawn ceremony at Grace Lawn Cemetery.

Milford, Indiana

The 2021 Milford Memorial Day Parade will take place on May 31 at 10 a.m. More info

Niles, Michigan

The city of Niles will be hosting its annual Memorial Day Parade on May 31 from 9 a.m. to around 11:30 a.m. More info

Osceola, Indiana

The annual Osceola Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 31 at 8 a.m. The parade will travel west on Lincolnway to Grand Boulevard. More info

New Paris, Indiana

The New Paris Chamber of Commerce and the New Paris Boy Scouts, Troop 12 will host the city’s annual Community Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on Sunday, May 30. More info

Plymouth, Indiana

The City of Plymouth will be hosting their annual Memorial Day Ceremony at 10 a.m. on May 31. More info

South Haven, Michigan

The Edward W. Thompson American Legion Post 49 is organizing the 2021 Memorial Day Parade, which begins at 9 a.m. on Center Street and marches along Phoenix Street to Lakeview Cemetery where the ceremony will take place at approximately 9:45. The parade will be led by Medal of Honor recipient Jim ‘Doc’ McCloughan for the 51st year, who will also be the guest speaker this year. Post 49’s Color Guard will proudly display the American Flag as the South Haven High School band provides the marching music. The 2021 Miss and Mister South Haven Court, Little Miss Blueberry Court, along with other presenters at the ceremony, will also join the parade. Pastor Jerry Koller is the Spiritual Leader for the ceremony at Lakeview Cemetery to honor and mourn those military personnel who have died in the performance of their military duties. Honored guests, veterans and distinguished South Haven students will also participate in the event. The ceremony culminates with the Post 49 Color Guard’s three-rifle volley and echo taps.

Sturgis, Michigan

The Sturgis Memorial Day Parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. The parade will start at the VFW on Fawn River Road, continue to S. Nottawa Street, and end at OakLawn Park. More info

Three Rivers, Michigan

Three Rivers Will have a Memorial Day Parade Monday morning at 10 a.m., with a service at the cemetery to follow.

Weesaw Township, Michigan

The New Troy American Legion Post 0518 will be holding their normal Memorial Day Services. They will have a service at the Glendora cemetery at 10 a.m. on Sunday May 30th and another service at the Riverside cemetery on Three Oaks Rd at 11 a.m. on Sunday May 30th. They will have a parade starting at the fire station in New Troy at 2 p.m. on May 30th. The parade will end at the New Troy cemetery with a service there. The public is invited.
