Lilly Center uses $10M grant to protect Kosciusko County's lakes

Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams

WINONA LAKE, Ind. -- With the help of a $10 million grant, Grace College's Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams is beginning a program to find solutions to make Kosciusko County's lakes healthier.

The $10 million grant, from Lilly Endowment Inc., will be used to start the Lake Rx program, which is focused on creating custom strategies on land, in the water, and in local communities to revitalize Kosciusko County's more than 100 lakes.

This revitalization project comes as Kosciusko County's lakes have been threatened by elevated levels of E. coli and blue-green algae toxins, which can be dangerous for those enjoying the county's public beaches.
