La Porte Police mourning death of police service dog

LA PORTE, Ind.—The La Porte Police Department on Wednesday announced the death of police service dog, Rambo “Bo,” on March 15.

The department shared that Rambo, a German Shepard dog/ Belgian Malinois mix, passed away Friday after a battle with lymphoma cancer.

Rambo served the department for five years as a dual-purpose narcotics and patrol utility canine.

During his law enforcement career, Rambo completed 446 vehicle free-air sniffs that resulted in 88 drug arrests. He had nine criminal apprehensions and recovered discarded stolen property and evidence multiple times.

La Porte Police Specialist Matt Drangmeister was Rambo's handler.
