La Grange County deputies arrest suspect following two county pursuit
LA GRANGE COUNTY, Ind. --The La Grange County Sheriff's Office took a driver into custody after allegedly leading deputies on a pursuit from Steuben County into La Grange County.
Early Sunday morning deputies with La Grange County were notified by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office of a vehicle pursuit heading westbound towards the county line, reports said.
La Grange County deputies set up stop sticks in the area of 1150 E and US 20 and waited for the vehicle.
The silver Cadillac was located heading westbound on US 20 at a high rate of speed, reports said.
La Grange County deputies began pursuing the vehicle.
The vehicle crashed in the area of 900 E and US 20. The driver, later identified as James Johnson, ran from the scene of the crash, deputies said.
Deputies captured Johnson and he was taken into custody after a scuffle, deputies said.
Because of the crash, Johnson was transported to the hospital to be medically cleared.
After he was medically cleared, Johnson was taken to the La Grange County Jail on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, a Level 6 felony, and resisting law enforcement, a class A misdemeanor.
