Groundbreaking for phase two of ’The Cascade’
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Ivy Tech is celebrating Ivy Impact this week. One of the highlights from Ivy Impact is that students have been given opportunities to prepare them in careers in technology.
Data centers are coming to the Michiana area with Amazon, Microsoft, and an unknown third party. Ivy Tech partnered with Amazon in St. Joseph County, Indiana. The college is preparing students for those jobs that are coming to the area.
"We want to make sure that our students are prepared and that we are open to the community to help people prepare to land those jobs," said Kevin O'Neill, Department Chair, School of IT and Supply Chain Program
"They have collaborated with community colleges in other areas where they've opened data centers-- so this was almost like meeting half-way, between. 'I'm coming to see you, you're coming to see me,' and that's how it worked out," said O'Neill.
