ISP K9 sniffs out 3 kilos of cocaine during traffic stop in Kosciusko County
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -- An Indiana State Police Trooper, with the assist of a K9 officer, discovered three kilograms of cocaine during a routine traffic stop on Wednesday (Dec. 4) in Kosciusko County.
Authorities say the stop was made around 3:27 p.m. on a 2007 black BMW SUV as it heading east on US30 in Kosciusko County.
"A traffic stop was made near the intersection of US30 and C.R. 150 West," ISP said. "During the traffic stop a K9 from the Warsaw Police Department responded to assist the trooper. A free-air sniff was conducted, and the K9 gave a positive alert to the odor of narcotics in the BMW. A subsequent search of the BMW revealed three kilos of suspected cocaine and approximately $3,000 in United States Currency."
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 44-year-old Jarvis Buchanan, of Fort Wayne. He was arrested on the charge of Possession of Cocaine, a level 3 felony, and taken to the Kosciusko County Jail.
