Investigation underway on deadly shooting
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit is investigating a shooting that left one dead on Friday evening.
Police responded to the intersection of Indiana Avenue and Kendall Street in South Bend around 7:27 p.m. regarding a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire according to officials.
Once officers arrived, they found a male seated in the driver seat and the vehicle with gunshot defects. According to officials, officers discovered the male had suffered gunshot wounds.
Officers attempted CPR, but were unable to resuscitate him. The male, later identified as 32-year-old South Bend resident Vincent Lockett-Johnson, was pronounced dead at the scene.
This is an active on-going death investigation and an autopsy will be conducted.
