MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- An investigation is underway after an inappropriate video involving Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood's son, Joseph Wood, surfaced Thursday.
In the video from July 2022, Wood can be seen pretending to be a police officer pulling two individuals over in a car, inside of a garage. One of those individuals is also a Mishawaka City employee.
He checks the I.D. of the individual in the driver's seat, then appears to pull a gun, yelling racial slurs multiple times.
The mayor's office released a statement that can be read below.
This is not the first incident that Wood has been involved with.
In October 2022, officers pulled over the mayor's son, and on body camera footage police describe Joe as "bombed" and stumbling around.
Officers ultimately offered him a ride home.
In September, Wood was charged with a misdemeanor for allegedly driving while under the influence, flipping his vehicle onto its driver's side.
Wood is expected in court on November 20 for this charge.
