SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- It was the year of cutting down ribbons!
In 2021, Indiana saw a record-breaking number of businesses registered. Nearly 100,000 businesses opened up across the state. To put this in perspective, this is a 26.3% jump from 2020 and a 52% increase from 2019.
Businesses registered in previous years were approximately 60- 70 thousand for the state of Indiana.
While the number might seem surprising, for Indiana officials, it is representative of the strong Hoosier state economy as well as the accessibility to becoming your own business owner.
Secretary of State, Holli Sullivan, says with the pandemic came time to reflect and feel inspired. Something that every business owner needs before taking the leap!
“The pandemic has definitely impacted every aspect of our life, but it has always changed a lot of Hoosiers lives, given the time and maybe the motivation to launch their own business and scratch that entrepreneurial itch that maybe they have had for many years,” says Secretary Sullivan.
