Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs helps families with school supplies

The Indiana Department of Veteran Affairs is helping veteran families facing financial hardships pay for school expenses through the new Operation Back to School program.

The program is part of the Military Family Relief Fund and will provide families with up to $500 for each dependent for school supplies and other school-related expenses.

Families can apply for dependents in kindergarten through 12th grade (up to 18 years old) and full-time college students (up to 23 years old) who live in the veteran’s home.   

Applicants must provide the following:

  • DD-214
  • W-9
  • Direct Deposit form
  • Proof of income
  • Bank Statement
  • Proof of child’s residency
