Hundreds of infants surrendered under law

Mich. – More than 2 hundred infants have safely been surrendered under the ‘Safe Delivery’ law since 2001.

The law allows women to give up their new-born anonymously at a police station, fire station or hospital.

Experts say nearly all infant surrenders have taken place at a hospital.

A Program Consultant believes the law has cut down on the number of illegal and unsafe abandonment.
