Homicide investigation underway after woman shot while driving
MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- Michigan City Police are investigating the homicide of a woman who was shot while driving early Sunday morning.
At 1:50 a.m., police were dispatched to Springland and Roeske avenues for a shots fired call and reports someone had been shot.
When officers arrived, they found a vehicle off the roadway and a woman, who was unresponsive, in the driver's seat
The woman had a gunshot wound.
Police attempted life saving measures and she was transported to the hospital.
She died at the hospital, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.

Police Chief Cambell says the department has worked hard to combat violence in the city and have confiscated more than 167 guns so far this year.
There will be a Public Safety Meeting at July 28 at 6 p.m. at New Hope Church in Michigan City to outline what they will be doing to combat the most recent incidents.
The public is encouraged to attend.
