Rain, snow, and wind are on their way later tonight
Heavy rain rolled through Michiana overnight causing heavy flooding and power outages. During the storm, Bridgman received 7 inches of rain in three hours.
Indiana Michigan Power is working to restore power to more than 15,000 customers without service. A majority of the outages are in southwest Michigan.
I&M says a substation in Bridgman flooded, which means they must build a new line and re-route power to three substations that are also without power.
Customers will be without power throughout the day and into the evening.
OUTAGE NUMBERS (as of 11 a.m.):
MICHIGAN: Approximately 14,900
- Benton Harbor/St. Joseph Area: 1,835
- Buchanan/New Buffalo Area: 13,039
- Three Rivers Area: 3
INDIANA: Approximately 400
- South Bend/Elkhart Area: 180
- Fort Wayne Area: 230
I&M encourages customers to use the Indiana Michigan Power app to monitor the status of any outage affecting your home or business. IndianaMichiganPower.com/App
