Head Coach Marcus Freeman finalizes coaching staff, prepares for new era

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- Notre Dame head football coach Marcus Freeman just hired two more assistants to finalize his coaching staff as they prepare for spring practice and a new era for the Fighting Irish.

Freeman hired former Cincinnati Bengals linebackers coach Al Golden to serve as the next defense coordinator.

Freeman said Golden’s experience, not only in the NFL, but also as head coach at University of Miami and Temple, played a factor in his decision to hire him.

Freeman also said his education as a head coach is just beginning but he learned a lot with the Fiesta Bowl loss.
