Grace College aims to raise $135M as part of modernization project
WINONA LAKE, Ind. -- Grace College in Winona Lake is hoping to improve some of their campus facilities, as well as erect new buildings, in an effort to update and beautify the school and surrounding area.
As Grace approaches 80 years, the school is aiming for a modernization project that would welcome the next generation of Lancers.
"What I'm most excited for is the impact on students," said Drew Flamm, Grace College President.
This project, known as the comprehensive campaign, would bring big changes to Grace College's campus.
The school has raised nearly $99 million of its $135 million goal, receiving the funds through grants and donations.
This new state-of-the-art fieldhouse has one Grace student-athlete very excited.
Lauren Harris plays tennis.
"We'll be able to do our conditioning and sprint work on the field, especially during the winter, once it gets colder. For us, we'll mostly use the weight facility for when we do our weight training during our offseason, and some of our preseason work. I'm a part of the business program, and they're adding a business school, which will be very helpful, and a good area for students to go and connect," said Harris.
In addition to the fieldhouse, there will be a new building for the school of business; and for the med tech program, they'll be taking over the former Zimmer Biomet building in March.
There, students will learn medical imaging, radiology, and be able to interact directly with orthopedic industry leaders and further establish themselves in the orthopedic capital of the world.
"The vision for this is really going to represent what makes Warsaw amazing, there's going to be a lot of collaboration between both academics and industry, and community partners, and there will be actual community space too, it really is indicative of what sets Warsaw apart," said Andrea Sullivan, Executive Director for the Orthopedic Retention Initiative from OrthoWorks.
Flamm says these updates to the school show the commitment and investment in their students.
"We want students to know that they are created for more, they're created for more than the majors they have, they're created to make an impact and a difference in this world, and this campaign is ultimately about helping students learn, grow, become the best versions of themselves, and go make an impact on the community and around the world," said Flamm.
Grace is in the heart of Warsaw and Winona Lake, and the local community is factored into this comprehensive campaign.
"To have a campaign that's not just about our campus community, but is really about our whole community, about Kosciusko, Warsaw, Winona Lake, and the integration of our campus. We are so intertwined and our leaders in this community have been so supportive of grace through this whole endeavor and we are better together."
Flamm says the goal is for the comprehensive campaign project to be complete by the end of 2029.
