Gardening workshops return to Friendship Botanic Gardens

Friendship Botanic Gardens

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- Friendship Botanic Gardens wants to help the community brush up on their gardening skills by hosting the annual gardening workshops. These series of workshops will be taught by the La Porte County Master Gardeners program and the Friendship Botanic Gardens Botany Committee. The first workshop will be held on Saturday, April 19, at 10:30 a.m. Central Time (CDT). 

Topics will include tips for soil knowledge, hypertufa planter construction, pruning, putting the right plant in the right place, and more.

All workshops are $10 per person and the community can register online. The workshop schedule is below.

  • Pruning with Janice Casper and Joyce Thomason - Sat. April 19, 10:30 a.m.
  • Right Plant in the Right Place & Deer-Resistant Plants with Janice Casper, Donna Pouzar, and Rima Binder - Sat. May 3, 10:30 a.m.
  • Hypertufa Gardening with Janice Casper and Val Askew - Sat. May 10, 10:30 a.m.
  • Soil Knowledge and Plant Propagation with Donna Pouzar, Tom Bosen, La Porte County Master Gardeners - Sat. May 31, 10:30 a.m.
