Free eclipse glasses offered in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Free eclipse glasses will be offered to the community by the City of South Bend, The St. Joseph County Department of Health and St. Joseph County Emergency Management Agency.
The partial solar eclipse will be taking place in South Bend Monday, April 8 at approximately 3:09 p.m.
The glasses are highly recommended to wear at all times while viewing the eclipse. Viewing an eclipse without proper protection can risk permanent damage to your eyes.
Glasses are available first come, first serve. Below is a list of locations they can be picked up.
- South Bend Police Department, 701 W Sample St.
- Howard Park Event Center, 219 S. Saint Louis Blvd.
- Pinhook Park, 2801 Riverside Dr.
- Rum Village Park, 2626 S Gertrude St.
- Charles Black Community Center, 3419 W Washington St.
South Bend Venues Parks & Arts is hosting a viewing event for the eclipse. Followed the viewing, they will feature the Jimmy Neutron movie at Howard Park starting at 3:30 p.m.
