Final SJC Humane Society budget not decided on at meeting

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The St. Jospeh County Council and members of the Humane Society of St. Joseph County held a meeting Tuesday to discuss the budget for the Humane Society. 

No final budget has been decided on, but Brian Tanner created a budget that could possibly work by removing the need of a new animal control vehicle.

Other members from the council didn't decide on anything yet.

Some of the discussion was about how much the council can really give to the Humane Society as they don't have finalized budgets for the departments for St. Joseph County.

Genny Brown, Director at the St. Jospeh Humane Society, stated, "Our hope is that we have this settled before the end of March, because that's when our current extended contract expires, and we would really like to not have to keep extending these contracts and just get this done, and I'm sure that they would like to get it off their plate too."
