Fatal US 31 crash in Niles Township
BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich.- A car crash on the US 31 Bypass is under investigation after it leaves one dead on Thursday afternoon.
Berrien County deputies responded to a reported two-vehicle crash at the 6-mile marker southbound on the US 31 Bypass in Niles Township at 2:46 p.m.
A silver Chrysler Concord driving northbound crossed over the median and collided with a brown Ford Fusion traveling the opposite direction.
The Ford Fusion had a 17-year-old male behind the wheel and a 16-year-old passenger.
Both Niles, Michigan teens were transported by ambulance to Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Chrysler, a 35-year-old female from Goshen, Indiana, was also transported to Memorial Hospital.
This woman, however, later died from her injuries.
The crash is under investigation by the Berrien County Accident Investigation Team.
