Family-friendly poker-style run against child abuse to take place August 27th
NILES, Ind. – A family-friendly poker-style run will take place tomorrow, and it’s all for a good cause.
The River Bend Riders and Warriors Oath VMC organized Savannah’s Ride Against Child Abuse, in honor of a little girl named Savannah.
Savannah was the granddaughter of ‘Diesel’, the National President of Warrior’s Oath VMC. She tragically passed away at the age of two in 2016 after being a victim of child abuse.
The poker-style run is unlike the usual runs bikers typically go on. Instead of going from bar to bar, the run will make stops at family-friendly businesses around Michiana.
The run will start at Greater Niles Senior Center in Niles. The next stop will be at Swirlyz, an ice cream and frozen yogurt shop, also in Niles.
Families will be able to stop in and grab some ice cream or frozen yogurt before heading to grab some candy from the Wakarusa Dime Store in Mishawaka.
A stop will be made at Flowers by Anna in Buchanan as well, where families can purchase carnations for the following stop at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac where Savannah is buried.
Flowers will be left on her grave as part of a small ceremony honoring her and other children who have been victims of child abuse.
Finally, the run will end at the VFW in Dowagiac, where a mini carnival will be set up for families complete with a dunk tank, bounce house, cotton candy and more.
All proceeds from this event will go to benefit Cass County CASA and River Bend Rider’s Christmas adoption fund, which allows the River Bend Riders to adopt children for Christmas and provide gifts for them for families may not be able to afford to.
