Elkhart County K9 Polaris retires after five years of service

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office said goodbye to a loyal and dedicated servant Thursday morning when they announced the retirement of K9 Polaris, who faithfully served the community for five years. 

Polaris began his career working with Officer Jamie Serling on June 24, 2019, and finished his career almost five years to the day.

The ECSO says Officer Sterling will continue his career without his K9 partner.

"Thank you, K9 Polaris, and happy trails," the ECSO said in a social media post.
