One injured in Elkhart shooting

ELKHART, Ind. - An early morning shooting in Elkhart left one person injured.

Police say this started when someone was shot near Benham and Indiana Avenues just after 2:30 a.m. Thursday.  That victim then drove south, and wound up at a gas station about five minutes away, near County Road 20 and County Road 9 just south of the city.  That's where officers found the victim's car.

Investigators say the victim was hit in the leg and should be okay.  It's not clear if they were shot while in the car, or got in the car and drove off after being shot.
