BERRIEN SPRINGS, Mich. --   Emergency personnel in Berrien Springs responded to Lake Chapin near St. Main St. around 4:01 p.m. to report a missing person. The investigation showed that several individuals had been swimming and trying to reach the bridge pylons in Lake Chapin. Micah Harris, a 19-year-old swimmer from Xenia, Ohio, experienced difficulty and went underwater. 

Despite rescue efforts by other swimmers and boaters, they were unsuccessful.

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team later recovered Mr. Harris's body at about 7:57 p.m. on October 4, 2025. The case is still under investigation.
