Deputies identify driver killed in crash on US 35
LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- A driver was killed early Monday morning in a crash on US 35 after turning left in front of another vehicle, according to the La Porte County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were called to US 35 at CR 250 South for a two vehicle crash.
When deputies arrived, they located a deceased male in the northbound lanes.
The preliminary investigation revealed Adam Fedorowicz, 67, was traveling southbound on US 35 in the right hand lane when he suddenly turned left in the path of a Jeep traveling southbound in the left hand lane, deputies said.
The Jeep came to rest on its roof in the northbound lanes of US 35. Fedorowicz's Nissan came to rest in a grassy median south of the intersection.
Deputies spoke with the driver of the Jeep who said Fedorowicz's Nissan turned in front of her leaving her no time to react and avoid the collision.
A witness who was traveling behind the Nissan said he saw the Nissan with its right turn signal activated, but the car failed to merge into the turn lane and suddenly turned left in the path of the Jeep, reports said.
The driver of the Jeep complained of pain but refused treatment at the scene.
The roadway was closed for over an hour during the investigation.
Toxicology test results are pending.
The crash remains under investigation.
