Driver killed in crash on Red Arrow Highway

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. -- An 81-year-old man was killed in a crash on Red Arrow Highway on Thursday, according to the Michigan State Police.

Police were called to Red Arrow Highway near 41st Street in Paw Paw around 11:30 a.m.

The preliminary report indicates a silver vehicle traveling eastbound on the highway attempted to make a U-turn in the middle of the highway and was struck by another eastbound vehicle in the driver’s side door, police said.

The driver of the silver vehicle, 81-year-old Thomas Makowski, was taken to the hospital where he later died of his injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
