Dolly Parton leaves behind an opportunity for children to read at no cost

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80, many will remember her for her music, but Parton also spent years making sure children had a chance to grow their own personal library.

Parton was able to achieve this goal through The Dolly Parton Imagination Library, gifting new books to children across the globe every year.

"I think the best way we can honor Dolly is to make sure the books and the opportunities they create continue reaching children for generations, and we're so happy to be a part of that," said Linda Yoder, the Executive Director of United Way of Marshall County.

Since the Imagination library has been established more than 332 million books have been gifted worldwide.
