Deputies identify driver killed in crash on SR 120
LA GRANGE COUNTY, Ind. -- A 29-year-old woman was killed in a crash on SR120 Wednesday afternoon, according to the La Grange County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say a 34-year-old Jason Yoder's car was traveling eastbound on SR 120 when it crossed into the westbound lanes and struck a Saturn Ion head-on.
The Saturn became airborne, rotated 90 degrees and overturned several times before coming to a final rest on the roadway, according to reports.
Jason Yoder's vehicle, a Jaguar, spun out and went off the side of the road, deputies said.
Both vehicles sustained significant damage, deputies said.
Jason Yoder was trapped and had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was transported to the hospital for minor injuries and was released.
Jason told investigators he fell asleep at the wheel, according to deputies.
The driver of the Saturn, 29-year-old Tonya Yoder, died at the scene.
The passenger in the Saturn was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
