Crash on southbound US 131 in St. Joseph County, Mich. leaves one dead

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. – Deputies respond to a fatal single-vehicle crash on southbound US 131, near Heimbach Road and Moorepark Road, on Tuesday around 2:14 pm, the St. Joseph County, Mich. Office of the Sheriff said.

When they arrived to the scene, deputies found a Chevy Tahoe that was traveling south. The driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway, rolled over and hit several trees, according to deputies.

According to witnesses, they said the driver allegedly was driving fast, attempted to pass or avoid a combine and lost control of his vehicle.

The driver was identified as a 51-year-old man. The drivers name is being withheld pending family notification.
