Cooling centers available for St.Joseph County residents July 18-19
ST.JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. --- Cooling centers will be available on two dates in July for members of the community due to the heat wave forecast to hit the area.
The South Bend Community School Corporation and the Saint Joseph County Emergency Management Agency have announced cooling centers at two area school locations from July 18-19.
Residents are invited to stop by the Riley High School gymnasium located at 1902 Fellows St. from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. or the Washington High School located at 4747 W. Washington St. in South Bend to cool off.
Food and beverages will not be provided.
Excessive heat can pose a danger especially to children, the elderly and those with certain health conditions. The National Weather Service has a list of heat-related safety tips and resources here.
