ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- Fourth graders with Concord Community Schools launched a weather balloon Friday morning following months of research and project-based learning.
Students learned about everything needed to prepare for launch, including ordering the helium, contacting the FAA for flight notice, and of course the weather.
The students also designed experiments which were attached to the rig plus made predictions of how far the balloon would travel.
Cohen Otto, a student, guessed by stating, “Probably somewhere near Fort Wayne, at least going towards Fort Wayne.”
Those predictions were pretty good as both balloons popped just after noon Friday and landed in Northeast Indiana, north of Fort Wayne.
