PLYMOUTH, Ind. --- The Marshall County Prosecutor’s office released autopsy results Monday ruling Mercedes Lain's death a homicide. While many say they know her life was far from perfect learning new details about her last moments is heartbreaking.
The prosecutor’s office has ruled her death a homicide with the preliminary results indicating the cause to be blunt force injuries to the head.
Community members reacted to the news in a Facebook group titled ‘Justice for Mercedes Lain’ showing outrage with many heartbroken to finally know what happened.
The organizer of that group Katelyn Warner says that while the news is upsetting previous social media posts from Mercedes’ parents indicated there were signs she was not well taken care of.
“You know from looking at the parents Facebook pages and messages I had a feeling that it was probably going to be shaken baby related," said Warner, organizer of the Facebook group.
Justin Miller who was arrested in connection with Mercedes’ death is facing a Level One felony and is scheduled to appear in court for an initial hearing Tuesday morning.
