Community invited to groundbreaking celebration for new St. Joseph County Park

GRANGER, Ind. -- St. Joseph County Parks Department invites the public to gather in celebration of the newest County Park.
The celebration will be held at 10761 Anderson Road on Oct. 22 at 4 p.m.
The lot for the new park, purchased by St. Joseph County Parks in 1999, has been the focus of decades worth of extensive public engagement processes to help shape its development.
Spring of 2025 saw several public forums and surveys regarding the park's desired amenities, features, accessibility, sustainability, and recreation. The final park concept reflects the collaborative efforts of the community while also aligning with the long-term missions of St. Joseph County Parks.
"This is a significant moment, not just for St. Joseph County Parks, but for the entire community," said Director of St. Joseph County Parks, Steve Slauson.
"We were thrilled by the enthusiastic response during our public forums earlier this year, and we're excited to see the ideas and feedback from residents begin to take physical shape."
Additional inquiries regarding the development of the new County Park may be directed to the St. Joseph County Parks Administrative Office at (574) 277-4828 or by email.
