City of Dowagiac confirms no formal plans submitted for data center expansion

Hyperscale Data, Inc.

DOWAGIAC, Mich. -- The City of Dowagiac says that while Hyperscale Data, Inc. did announce it intends to expand its local data center campus, the process to approve that move has yet to begin.

Dowagiac Mayor Patrick Bakeman tells ABC57 News that the city is still "awaiting the formal plans" from Hyperscale after the company announced an expansion in July. Bakeman says after the formal plans are submitted, the city will begin its review process of that expansion.

This comes after residents have been questioning the status of Hyperscale's data center campus, with more than a dozen people voicing concerns during public comment at the most recent Dowagiac City Council meeting. However, the data center itself has not been on the council's agenda.

ABC57 News has contacted Hyperscale Data, Inc. for comment but has not heard back.
