ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The Jewish Federation of St. Joseph Valley held a traditional Shi'shuk market this week to help raise funds to send local kids to summer camp.
Shi'shuk is the Hebrew word for Friday market, and this Shi'shuk saw kids from kindergarten to 9th grade making all of the traditional food that was for sale at the market.
Proceeds from the market will go the JFSJV's summer camp program, Camp Ideal.
"For over 60 years, we have created a welcoming camp environment rooted in Jewish community values, where campers participate in exciting workshops and activities that foster creativity and leadership," the camp's website says.
"In addition, our campers enjoy spending time outdoors on the campus of the Jewish Federation in South Bend, lake days at Fuller's Resort in Buchanan, exciting field trips, hands-on art activities, team-building exercises, and our grand finale, the Maccabiah Games -- our unique spin on the summer Olympics."
