Marshall County REMC

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. --The Marshall County Rural Electric Membership Corporation is working steadily today as they continue repair work that includes replacing at least 20 electrical poles due to the intense storms the night before.

The Marshall County REMC has identified poles that take priority and will repair those first.

"Once these lines are replaced, Marshall County REMC linemen and visiting crews will begin to focus on smaller isolated outages," the REMC said.

"Our linemen, two tree crews, and two crews from neighboring co-ops are on their way to assist. We also have contractor crews out that have been helping us since last night."

Full statement:

At this time, we have found at least 20 broken poles that need to be replaced. Our priority is to replace 10 3-phase feeder poles/lines, which are a priority because they carry power across the entire service territory.

Once these lines are replaced, Marshall County REMC linemen and visiting crews will begin to focus on smaller isolated outages. Our linemen, two tree crews, and two crews from neighboring co-ops are on their way to assist. We also have contractor crews out that have been helping us since last night

We still do not have any restoration time estimates to share because of extensive damage. We have so much damage that we have not even made it to some areas yet.

Please keep in mind that we have about 30 people out in the field in total to cover our entire service area. We sincerely apologize for the extended outages some of our members are facing. Please know that the entire REMC team and others are working to get members' power back up as soon as and as safely as possible.

Please stay away from broken poles and downed wires, and call and report them at 574-936-3161 or use SmartHub.
