SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- One week from tonight, The Fighting Irish and the IU Hoosiers will play the first ever college football playoff game at historic Notre Dame stadium, and fans of both are flocking to campus to grab the latest playoff merch.
Despite being only 10 minutes from Notre Dame stadium, ABC57's Jackie Baur is told that the Indiana University South Bend campus is a Hoosier safe hub here in South Bend.
"Everywhere in Indiana to save space for an IU fan, but this is a great opportunity for people to really kick it up a notch," stated IUSB Hammes Bookstore Manager Steven Turnbull.
In a town decked out in blue and gold, at the Hammes IUSB Bookstore there is no lack of cream and crimson, including a playoff shirt that just came in today that has been selling fast.
"We've gotten one style in so far we sold out of a lot of sizes been less than five hours," stated Turnbull. "Plenty of fans of IU are getting a great chance to show their pride and put it on display here in South Bend."
IUSB is partnering with the IU Alumni Association to bring a number of Hoosier friendly events to the area next week.
Turnbull states, "We're happy to partner with the IU Alumni Association we're going to be at the LaSalle Boy Scout lot off of State Road 23 from 4 to 7 PM on the 20th so come out and celebrate with the association."
