One person killed in crash on US-12

CASS COUNTY, Mich. – A single-car crash on US-12, east of Anderson Road, killed one on Sunday at 2:08 a.m., according to Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim was identified as Casey Butler, a 34-year-old resident of Elkhart.

During the crash investigation, deputies determined Butler allegedly lost control of her car, according to the report. The vehicle went off the road and flipped over, deputies said. Butler died due to the injuries sustained at the crash, according to deputies.

At this time, deputies are unsure if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, the report said. Butler was allegedly not wearing her seat belt, according to deputies.

This crash remains under investigation.
