NOW: Bucks aim to return to win column against Bremen

BUCHANAN, Mich. -- The Bucks come into Friday night's matchup looking to snap a two-game losing streak, and they think they have what it takes to get right back into the win column.

The Buchanan Bucks team you saw on Under the Lights two weeks ago and the team that'll take the field against Bremen are very different.
After starting 3-0, they've lost two straight games, and head coach Nick File says those back-to-back losses were a reality check for a team with aspirations of ending their season at Ford Field - hoisting a state championship trophy.

"We just sat them down and talked to them and said there's two ways to go, which way do you want to go, and I think they really responded well, so that is the biggest thing, and we're having fun again, it's important to have fun, especially with the young kids out here, just remind them to have fun," says File.

Now, as the team gets ready for a critically important part of their schedule, it's time to lock in.
That starts the second they hit the grass.

"The intensity was there, the positivity was there, then we went 0-2, started questioning things when it came to plays, when it came to mindset, those types of things. I really think this team just builds off of that moment of adrenaline, and that positivity when it comes to taking the field," says Carson Aalfs, Buchanan senior running back and defensive back.

You can expect this game to have a postseason like intensity for both teams.

"This is, for all intents and purposes, a playoff game for us, really the rest of the games are, so that's kind of the attitude we're going at. Just the mentality of one game at a time, getting everything back on track, and just the focus, like you said, of the leadership and the captains is the key for all this, and having fun," says File.

For this game, the Bucks say it'll come down to one thing - which team can bring the pain and be the most physical.

"We've seen this team on film, we've seen the amount of formations, trickery that they run with their offense, and their defense seems very passive, and that's the thing when I go back to talking about adrenaline and physicality, it's really just who's going to be the more physical football team, and we've been striving for that this week, and I really think we're going to be able to go out and punch them in the mouth," says Aalfs.

The Bucks and Lions will kickoff from Memorial Field at 7 p.m.
