Notre Dame defensive lineman Rylie Mills likely to miss rest of playoff

Notre Dame Football press conference

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- During his regularly scheduled press conference on Monday afternoon, Notre Dame Head Coach Marcus Freeman announced that fifth-year senior interior defensive lineman Rylie Mills will miss the rest of the College Football Playoff.

"Rylie Mills will be out for the remainder of the College Football Playoffs with a knee injury," said Freeman.

Mills was injured early in the second half of Friday's CFP game against Indiana in South Bend. He made a tackle on the Hoosier quarterback, but it appeared his knee collided with another Notre Dame player and Mills left the game.

Mills became a fixture on the Notre Dame defensive live over the last month with Howard Cross being out from injury.

Notre Dame's interior line play is a big reason they have made it so far already this season.  There is no doubt Mill's absence will be felt when the Irish take on Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on New Years Day.
