Boyfriend charged in murder of 19-year-old woman
BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- The boyfriend of a 19-year-old woman who was murdered in November 2019 has been charged in her death, according to the Berrien County Prosecutor's Office.
Marion Lamont Perry Jr, 22, has been charged with open murder, felon in possession of a firearm and felony firearm in the death of Uniqua Vera-Anne Jones.
Benton Township Police responded to the 200 block of Concord on November 30, 2019 to investigate a shooting and located Jones.
Jones was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
A relative at the scene told police Perry had been at the scene but left before officers arrived, according to the prosecutor's office.
Perry has been the focus of the investigation and has been in custody of the Michigan Department of corrections since December 10, according to Prosecutor Mike Sepic.
At Perry's arraignment on Thursday, bond was set at $2 million.
