Berrien County seasonal weight restrictions end March 22

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. – Seasonal weight restrictions for oversized vehicles will end on March 22 in Berrien County, the Berrien County Road Department announced today.

These weight restrictions, or “Frost Laws” will end at 6 a.m. Monday.

During the seasonal weight restrictions, the “Maximum Axle Load” is reduced by 35% per axle MCL 257.722(5).

For commercial vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Rating of 10,000 pounds or more MCL 257.627(6), travel speed is reduced to 35mph.

Frost Laws also reduce maximum wheel load to 450 pounds psi. of tire width MCL 257.722(5).
