Benton Harbor shooting leaves man wounded

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- Officers of the Benton Township Police Department responded to a shooting on Tuesday that left a man with a gunshot wound in his right thigh.

Upon arriving at the 1300 block of Monroe St., officers found the male victim, a 53-year-old Wisconsin resident, and began treatment until ambulance services came.

They also located the suspected shooter, a 52-year-old Wisconsin woman, and placed her in a patrol car. Officials say a loaded firearm was on the house’s porch.

The victim stated the woman retrieved the firearm after an argument and fired several shots, one wounding his leg.

The woman is currently held at the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department Jail.
